HP ZBook Studio G3 Review

HP ZBook Studio G3 Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

If you're looking for a laptop with the processing power necessary to animate like Pixar or design like Jony Ive, you don't have to settle for a workstation that looks like a workstation. The stylish HP ZBook Studio G3 with battery like HP ProBook 4330s Battery, HP ProBook 4430s Battery, HP ProBook 4436s Battery, HP ProBook 4530s Battery, HP ProBook 4535s Battery, HP HSTNN-DB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-IB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-LB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-I02C Battery, HP HSTNN-OB2T Battery, HP TPN-Q144 Battery, HP HSTNN-Q89C Battery is light enough that it won't hurt your back, and it's armed with an Intel Xeon processor and Nvidia Quadro graphics that provide blazing-fast performance. This 15.6-inch, 4.6-pound notebook provides plenty of power and portability for the most-demanding users, but we wish its display were brighter.

From the subtle dimples on the ZBook Studio G3's lid to the diamond-cut edge on its deck, this workstation shows that you don't need to sacrifice style for performance. The notebook's aluminum-and-magnesium chassis has a solid build quality, and the textured geometric patterns on its underside make it easy to hold.

Our HP ZBook Studio G3 weighed 4.6 pounds and measured 0.71 inches thick, making it lighter and thinner than the 17.3-inch Lenovo ThinkPad P70 (7.6 pounds, 1.2 inches thick) and similar to the 15.6-inch Apple MacBook Pro with Retina display (4.5 pounds, 0.71 inches thick) and the Dell Precision 5510 (4.6 pounds, 0.66 inches thick).

It takes a lot of energy to power a 4K display and an Intel Xeon processor, so it's noteworthy that HP managed to condense the ZBook's 150-watt power brick to a 0.6-pound block (0`.9 pounds w/ cord) that measures 6 x 3.6 x 0.9 inches. The 17.3-inch ThinkPad P70's 230-watt brick is bulkier, weighing 1.8 pounds and measuring 7.8 x 3.9 x 1 inches.

The ZBook Studio G3 is so light that we wish it lasted longer on a charge. The notebook endured for 5 hours and 8 minutes on the Laptop Mag Battery Test (constant Web browsing at 100 nits of brightness) -- not as long as the Precision 5510 (5:34) and the ThinkPad P70 (5:53), and well short of the 15-inch MacBook Pro (9:08). This takes away from the ZBook Studio's portability, but it's still a longer time than the average for desktop-replacement notebooks (4:24).

If you don't need the power of a Xeon processor, consider the entry-level ZBook G3, which costs $1,999 and includes an Intel Core i7- 6700HQ CPU, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage and a 1080p display. Our customized test model costs $2,999 and has an Intel Xeon E3-1505M v5 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a fingerprint reader and a 4K display.

Customizable ZBook Studio G3s with Core i7 processors start at $2,073, and you can upgrade the display from 1080p to 4K for $275 and add a fingerprint reader for $24. Our HP ZBook Studio G3 came running Windows 10, but you can opt for it to ship with Windows 7 for free.

The ZBook Studio G3 is a beautiful workhorse that demanding creative pros will love. Our configuration offered CPU performance on a par with the fastest laptops available today, and the chassis is light enough to take this machine with you. The ZBook also has the durability and security features IT departments demand. But what prevents this workstation from being an Editors' Choice pick is its relatively dim display, although it is plenty colorful. If you want to save some money and don't need the power of a Xeon processor, you can save $697 by opting for a Core i7-6700HQ CPU with integrated Intel graphics, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

If you want to see your work through a better lens, consider the Dell Precision 5510, which packs similar performance and a brighter screen at the same weight, all for $400 less than our review unit. Still, the ZBook Studio G3 is a captivating laptop, with unmatched aesthetics and one of the fastest processors available.

HP EliteDesk Best Business Computer

HP EliteDesk Best Business Computer

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

The HP EliteDesk 800's processor is the Intel i5-6500, which is a quad-core processor with a 6MB cache and 3.6GHz speed and with battery such as HP HSTNN-LB6V Battery, HP 246 G4 Notebook PC Battery, HP 256 G4 Notebook PC Battery, HP 14g-ad004TX Battery, HP TPN-Q132 Battery, HP 15g-ad007TX Battery, HP 15q-aj006TX Battery, HP 15q-aj105TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac166TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac196TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac636TX Battery, HP ProBook 450 G2 Battery. In the PassMark benchmark tests, this processer has a score of 7,035, which is well-above the passable mark of 6,000. This means this desktop has sufficient processing power to multitask with most business apps. However, the highest PassMark score in our review is 11,000. A difference of 3,000 in a PassMark score is generally considered to be exponential, meaning that the best processor in our review is more than twice as good as this processor at multitasking and processing data.

The EliteDesk also lacks a dedicated graphics card, which means that the graphics are integrated with the i5-6500 processor. This computer will struggle to handle data-intensive graphics programs like AutoCAD. However, you can upgrade the processor and add a dedicated graphics card prior to purchase, though at a significant cost.

You get 4GB of memory and a 500-GB hard drive, which is disappointing. While 4GB of RAM is plenty for most business apps like Microsoft Office and Excel, 8GB of memory is the preferred standard. Also, the best office PC has at least 1TB of storage. The best business computer in our review, the Dell XPS 8900, comes with 16GB of RAM. However, you can upgrade the memory to 8GB, and you can upgrade the storage to 4TB. In addition, the motherboard can support up to 64GB of RAM, though you have to manually install the memory yourself.

The motherboard has four expansion slots, which is standard. This allows you to add hard drives or other devices, like upgraded audio or video cards. In addition, eight USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports give you plenty of ways to connect external devices like card scanners and printers. These features make the EliteDesk an office PC that can grow with your business. When you need more out of your business computer, you can add the necessary hardware.

Another downside to the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 is the lack of some important support services with HP. While you get a three-year warranty that covers labor and parts, HP doesn't have asset-recovery services, online backup or remote diagnostic services. These are important services, because your business computer is a critical aspect of your business. If it fails or you're having trouble with some components, it affects your business.

The HP EliteDesk 800 has the quad-core processor and memory necessary to make sure that your computer doesn't slow down while multitasking with basic software, but the Intel Core i5-6500 processor has a middling PassMark score of 7,035. The 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive is disappointing, but you can easily add more hard drives as needed to fit your business needs. The lack of support services means you may not be able to retrieve vital information if you encounter a problem though.

HP Zbook 15u G3 Laptop

HP Zbook 15u G3 Laptop

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

The HP Zbook 15u G3 is a unique laptop with battery like HP 2000 Notebook PC Battery, HP G62 Battery, HP Pavilion dv5-3000 Battery, HP Pavilion dv4-4000 Battery, HP Pavilion dv3-4200 Battery, HP HSTNN-I84C Battery, HP HS03 Battery, HP HS04 Battery, HP G72 Battery, HP HSTNN-PB6S Battery, HP HSTNN-PB6T Battery, HP HSTNN-LB6U Battery, even among the best business notebooks. Classified as a mobile workstation, this professional-grade laptop boasts unique processing and graphics hardware that are built to meet the demands of business users that need to do more than file documents and work in simple spreadsheets. Instead, it’s made with more resource-intensive uses in mind like financial analysis, rendering 3D objects and working with enormous data sets. While there are far more impressive workstation PCs on the market, this is one of the few that delivers this sort of high-grade performance while still fitting the budget constraints of a small business and delivering a more standard office laptop experience. The combination of impressive performance and overall attainability make it one of the best laptops for small business and office professionals.

The system we tested was outfitted with a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD), which makes for good speed and quick boot times. HP offers several different storage options for the Zbook 15u, with SSD options ranging from 128GB up to 512GB and hard drive (HDD) options of 500GB and 1TB. For the security conscious, encrypted drives are also available.

The laptop boasts an Intel Core i7-6600u processor, a 2.6GHz dual-core CPU. Our review unit paired this with 16GB of RAM, but you can configure the Zbook 15u with up to 32GB of memory at purchase. That combination of processor and RAM lead to solid overall performance, scoring a B-plus in our ratings. This score is derived from a Geekbench 3 score of 7,497 points, outpacing many of the laptops in our review. It was held back slightly by a slower time in the Laptop Mag Spreadsheet Test – it completed this test in four minutes 31 seconds, right in the middle of the pack. Regardless, it has some of the best overall performance of any business-class laptop we reviewed.

The AMD FirePro W4190M graphics card has excellent 3DMark Pro performance in more demanding circumstances. While it scored only 30,127 points in the moderate Ice Storm Unlimited test, it scored an impressive 1,372 points in the more demanding Fire Strike Extreme test, which is designed to push graphics processors to their limits with high-resolutions and advanced rendering of particles, textures and lighting.

It also has something non-workstation laptops don’t, namely graphics with independent software vendor (ISV) certification. This certification ensures that programs from many vendors, such as Adobe, not only work with the GPU in question but do so without glitches and errors. Casual users editing photos can accommodate a glitch now and then, financial analysts with large amounts of money on the line cannot.

On the left side of the laptop is a single USB 3.0 port, along with a VGA port for connecting older monitors and projectors. A SmartCard slot lets you set up security-card-based access to the laptop for enhanced security. On the right you’ll find a second USB 3.0 port, an Ethernet port for wired network connectivity, a headset jack, a DisplayPort, a USB-C port, an SD card slot and a SIM card slot for optional mobile broadband. A large slot-shaped port on the side connects to HP’s line of desktop docks, letting you set up a full desktop of accessories – like monitors, keyboard, mouse, and external storage – all while still letting you quickly connect and disconnect the laptop with a single plug as you take the laptop with you. For wireless connectivity, the laptop is equipped with dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Additional security features include a built-in fingerprint scanner for biometric security; an integrated lock slot to physically secure the laptop; and less visible solutions like Intel’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for hardware-based encryption, optional drive encryption and BIOS-level protections.

HP built the Zbook 15u to withstand the rigors of the workaday world with a magnesium-reinforced chassis and sturdy aluminum paneling across the lid. Despite the beefy construction, it’s also comfortable to hold, with a soft-touch finish around the edges and across the palmrest. This mobile workstation is far more portable than similar systems from just a few years ago, but compared to the other business laptops in our review, it’s one of the largest, measuring 15.09 x 10.1 x 0.78 inches. With many work laptops weighing 3 pounds or less, it’s also one of the heaviest, tipping the scales at 4.18 pounds. While that’s still a very portable weight, it’s a bit much for people looking to bring their laptops along on their daily commutes.

The 15-inch chassis affords enough space for a full-size backlit keyboard and 10-key numeric pad, which adds convenience for anyone who regularly enters in lots of numbers. Unlike most laptop numeric pads, this one uses full-size keys, so you aren’t cramped for space as you enter data into spreadsheets. The keyboard is accompanied by a dual-pointer setup, with a standard gesture-capable touchpad and a second pointstick built into the keyboard. The touchpad has two buttons below for right and left clicking, with another set above for use with the pointstick.

HP covers the Zbook 15u with a generous three-year warranty. Not only is this the longest standard coverage period offered in our review, but it also includes perks like free phone support, remote diagnosis and service, and even on-site support all as part of the warranty included with purchase. In Laptop Mag’s independent ranking of support services, HP ranked fourth out of 10 brands surveyed, with helpful resources available online as well as knowledgeable support staff. Additional services include extended warranty periods, accidental damage protection and asset recovery service, but all of these options come at additional expense.

The laptop’s 15.6-inch display has full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and our review unit came with a touchscreen, even though touch support does not come standard on most models. The touchscreen has a glossy display that may be more reflective than you want – it can be rather mirror-like at the wrong angles – but non-touch displays are available with an anti-glare coating that reduces the reflections. Non-touch options are also available at higher resolutions, up to ultra HD (3840 x 2160).

In our testing, the laptop display had a maximum brightness of 203 nits, which is noticeably dimmer than the displays of competing systems. The color accuracy was also a bit disappointing, with an average DeltaE of 11.5. This measurement was found on the unaltered default settings for the display, so color accuracy may be improved with adjusted settings of calibration. As it stands, however, the display was both the dimmest and least accurate of systems in our review. This may not have a large impact if you’re working with spreadsheets or typing up reports, but if you’re doing color-sensitive work, it is an issue.

HP Z240 Workstation Computers Review

HP Z240 Workstation Computers Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

The HP Z240 comes with the most USB ports of any business computer our lineup. There are seven USB 3.0 ports and six USB 2.0 ports. You can never have too many USB ports. As a rule, you should always have at least two or three more USB ports than you know you'll need.

One downside to the Z240's connectivity is the lack of a media card reader – a slot that reads memory cards and sticks typically used by digital cameras and phones. You can add a media card reader at an additional cost.

The base HP Z240 model with battery such as HP Compaq Presario CQ72 Battery, HP Compaq Presario CQ62 Battery, HP WD549AA Battery, HP HSTNN-Q72C Battery, HP HSTNN-Q73C Battery, HP HSTNN-Q64C Battery, HP Envy 17-2000 Battery, HP Envy 17-1100 Battery, HP G72 Battery, HP Pavilion dv7-4000 Battery, HP Envy 15-1100 Battery, HP Pavilion dv6-6100 Battery features the Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5 processor, which has four cores and hyper-threading on each core. This makes it perform as though it has eight cores, which is why it has a 10,177 PassMark score. Only one other processor in our review received a higher PassMark score.

Since the PassMark tests evaluate a processor's multitasking and data-processing abilities, a score above 10,000 is very good for a business computer. We considered any score below 6,000 to be passable. So the Intel Xeon processor is more than capable of handling multiple apps at a time.

The Z240 also comes with the Nvidia Quadro K620 graphics card. Most of the office PCs on our lineup only have integrated graphics, which means that all the graphics are processed by the CPU. However, with a separate GPU, the Z240's processor doesn't have to process graphics, which leads to better performance. In addition, since the Nvidia Quadro is AutoCAD certified; it's an excellent GPU for data-intensive graphics-based programs.

The HP Z240 comes with 8GB of memory, which is the standard amount of RAM for a business desktop computer. Most software that a business relies on doesn't require a lot of memory, because the bulk of the data is easily processed. However, programs that require visual or audio files often require a lot more memory, because the programs are a lot more complicated and require much more processor resources. You can upgrade the memory to 64GB before purchase, which is also the maximum that the motherboard can support.

As with most business computers, the installed hard drive has 1TB of storage. You can upgrade to a 4-TB hard drive if you need extra storage. You can also upgrade to solid-state drives (SSD), which can provide better performance. SSDs offer faster bootup times and faster access to data, but it adds a lot to the price and doesn't provide as much storage.

HP provides a three-year warranty, which is the industry standard for a business computer. You can extend the warranty up to five years. HP also provides on-site support, which means they can send an IT expert to your business to fix problems. The warranty also covers accidental damage and asset-recovery services. The only support feature not included is remote access, which is when an IT expert fixes issues through an internet connection to your computer.

The biggest downside to the HP Z240 is the relatively weak power supply unit: It's just 280 watts. This is plenty of power for the installed components, but it doesn't provide much of a ceiling for expansion, which is unfortunate, because the motherboard has six expansion slots and the chassis has three internal and three external bays. As such, you may have to upgrade the power supply unit when you want to add components, like additional hard drives or a dedicated sound card.

The HP Z240 has a powerful Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5 quad-core processor that has a high 10,177 PassMark score. The computer comes with 8GB of memory, which is comparable to the best business computers available in this price range. The hard drive has 1TB of storage, which is average. The downside is the low-wattage capabilities of the power supply unit, but this is only an issue if you want to add components to expand its capabilities.

Apple Macbook Air

Apple Macbook Air

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the Apple Laptop Battery

It goes without saying that the MacBook Air's design is absolutely gorgeous. But did you realize it was eco-friendly too?

Browsing through Apple's growing list of products, you'll find there's no shortage of lightweight, powerful laptops that rival with battery like Apple A1582 Battery, Apple A1502 ( EMC-2835 ) Battery, Apple A1502 Battery, Apple MF839LL/A Battery, Apple MF840LL/A Battery, Apple MF841LL/A Battery, Apple MF842LL/A Battery, Apple MF843LL/A Battery, Apple MF839LL/A Battery, Apple MF840LL/A Battery, Apple MF842LL/A Battery, Apple MF843LL/A Battery, and to some extent surpass, many of their Windows counterparts. For instance, there are the MacBook Pro 17-inch and 15-inch laptops, arguably the lightest in their respective categories. But for quite some time now, Apple fanatics have been calling for something that can actually be classified as an ultraportable, something that breaks the 4-pound barrier. Finally, Apple has answered with the Apple MacBook Air ($1,799 direct), and pleased the eco-crowd.

The aluminum casing is completely recyclable, similar to that of the MacBook Pros. You won't find a trace of arsenic and mercury on the display or on the display's glass screen. All of the Apple-designed circuit boards are also PVC- and BFR (Bromide)-free. Apple is also touting the fact that, in addition to being rid of all these hazardous materials, the MacBook Air is Energy Star 4.0-certified and EPEAT silver-compliant. On PC Magazine's energy consumption tests, the 14 Watts it produced while idle is consistent with Energy Star's 14 Watt (and under) requirement. The reading was taken while the system was running Leopard after 15 minutes of idle time.

Apple MacBook Air 11-Inch 2015

Apple MacBook Air 11-Inch 2015

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the Apple Laptop Battery

The 2015 Apple MacBook Air 11-inch ($899 as tested) is all about ultraportability. This year's model gets a modest CPU update from last year's iteration with battery such as Apple A1406 Battery, Apple A1495 Battery, Apple A1465 Battery, Apple MC968LL/A Battery, Apple MC969LL/A Battery, Apple MD214LL/A Battery, Apple MD223LL/A Battery, Apple MD224LL/A Battery, Apple MD845LL/A Battery, Apple MC969CH Battery, Apple MD224B/A Battery, Apple MD223X/A Battery, Apple MD224X/A Battery, but while its Editors' Choice-winning stablemate, the 2015 Apple MacBook Air 13-inch(Best Price at Amazon), is aimed at pleasing a wider range of users, the 11-inch ultraportable makes a few tradeoffs to become even thinner and lighter. Even so, its Intel Core i5 processor means that it breezes through tasks that would slow an Intel-Core-M-equipped system, and that's on top of its 11.5 hours of battery life. The MacBook Air 11-inch is a wonderful laptop, and it should be on your short list if you're constantly on the move.

If the all-aluminum exterior of the MacBook Air 11-inch($739.00 at Amazon) looks familiar, that's because the design has basically remained unchanged since 2010. It measures 7.5 long by 11.8 wide, and its thickness tapers from 0.68 inches from the back to 0.11 inches at the front. The laptop weighs 2.38 pounds, which is ever-so-slightly heavier than the last year's model (2.31 pounds). It's significantly smaller and lighter than other ultraportables like the Asus Zenbook UX305FA-ASM1($870.54 at Amazon) and the HP EliteBook Folio 1020(Best Price at Amazon), although those two are slimmer.

The new 12-inch MacBook lays claims to being the most svelte Apple laptop, but it sacrifices I/O ports in favor of shaving off a few millimeters. It should be noted that the MacBook Air 11-inch's Intel Core i5 processor needs a fan to keep itself cool, while the thinner laptops listed above all have Intel Core M processors that don't require active cooling.

The system is equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-5250U processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000. Multimedia performance was good, completing the Handbrake test in 2 minutes 49 seconds and our Adobe Photoshop CS6 test in 5:13. Both scores are faster than the Dell XPS 13 Touch($949.11 at Amazon) (2:58 on Handbrake; 5:54 on CS6) and the Lenovo Yoga 3 14(Best Price at Amazon) (3:04 on Handbrake; 5:16 on CS6). Systems with Intel Core i7 processors, like the Acer Aspire S7-393-7451 and the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 Special Edition Laptop (7352) were predictably quicker in our tests. The MacBook Air was much faster than the Apple MacBook, which scored 3:39 on the Handbrake test and 6:24 on Photoshop CS6.

The latest 11-inch Apple MacBook Air might be one of the smallest ultraportable laptops on the market, but its powerful Intel Core i5 processor and long-lasting battery life help it stay ahead of its Core-M-equipped rivals. It also offers better connectivity options than the Apple MacBook. Consider buying one if you're replacing a three-year-old or older MacBook Air or Windows ultraportable, but you can skip it if you have last year's model. The newest Apple MacBook Air 13-inch remains our Editors' Choice for midrange ultraportable laptops with its larger screen and astounding battery life for only $100 more.

Dell Vostro 15-5568

Dell Vostro 15-5568

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the DELL Laptop Battery

The Vostro series with battery like DELL Y9N00 Battery, DELL PKH18 Battery, DELL WV7G0 Battery, DELL 489XN Battery, DELL XPS L321X Battery, DELL XPS 13-L322X Battery, DELL 75WY2 Battery, DELL NMV5C Battery, DELL XPS L511X Battery, DELL XPS 15Z Battery, DELL XPS L511Z Battery, DELL XPS 15Z-7777 Battery has come a long way as a trusted name for laptops built for professionals and businesses in view. The latest Vostro 15 continues to impress as it is revamped as a slimmer and lighter machine yet without conceding on its substance. Built-wise, the laptop’s construction is solid with a polished finish as it is mainly built with aluminium components. Users have a choice of colours on its interior i.e. gold (Jingle) or silver (Era). Its dimensions measure 19.2 x 380 x 252.5 mm and it weighs merely 1.98 kg. For a laptop in the 15-inch category, it's weight is not all that bad but it could be better. Ports are strategically located on both sides; thus leaving the rear of the laptop neat and clutter-free. Carrying around this laptop is convenient and it will surely turn heads with its polished aluminium finish. Its business look is typical for most Vostro series. Performance-wise, it is powered by an Intel Core i7-7500U Kaby-Lake processor and can be coupled with an NVIDIA M940MX GPU. This interesting combination renders the Vostro in some ways bearing the characteristics of a multimedia laptop. Running demanding software and multi-tasking on this processor is a non-issue. In fact, it will even run games at medium to low settings if needed.

Its 15.6-inch display with an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel is incredibly appealing. It is nice that the hinge allows the screen to bend back a full 180 degrees. RAM options are 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (max. 32GB) and storage is available at a 256 GB SSD. Network connectivity is supported by Wireless-AC 3165 and Bluetooth 4.1. The sound quality of the Vostro 15 is rather poor due to the speakers which are placed in an odd location. This has been a problem for many Vostros before this too. Connectivity is aplenty on this machine as it comes equipped with all necessary ports for input and output. For maximum security, a fast touch fingerprint scanner is integrated on board. The 42-Wh battery included is equally powerful considering that it is a business notebook and its runtime remains remarkable thanks to its efficient hardware, most noticeably the Kaby-Lake processor. Certainly, professionals and enterprises will benefit from this as they are power users who require longer productivity. The precision touchpad with multi-touch control is wide and sensitive. The keyboard bundled together is spill resistant and illuminated for use under dim environments. It comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Pro. Living up to the Vostro brand name, this machine is a business notebook standing out among its rivals.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7577 Laptop

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7577 Laptop

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the DELL Laptop Battery

The Inspiron 7577 with battery such as DELL 5K9CP Battery, DELL 90V7W Battery, DELL DIN02 Battery, DELL JD25G Battery, DELL RWT1R Battery, DELL XPS 13 9343 Battery, DELL XPS 13 9350 Battery, DELL 5R9DD Battery, DELL KTCCN Battery, DELL XKPD0 Battery, DELL Chromebook 11 3120 Battery, DELL Chromebook 3120 Battery starts at just under $900 USD with an i5-7300HQ CPU, GTX 1060 Max-Q GPU, FHD IPS matte display, and 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD while the highest-end SKU will cost $1600 USD with an i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 Max-Q GPU, 4K UHD IPS display, and up to a 512 GB NVMe SSD. The fact that Dell includes the exact same GPU across the entire lineup is a notable change from the Inspiron 7567 where there were multiple GPU options. Competitors in this price range are plentiful including the Asus ROG GL503, Lenovo Legion Y520, Acer Nitro 5, Gigabyte Sabre 15, Samsung Odyssey, HP Omen 15, and the MSI GF62VR to name a few.

The new chassis retains the core outline of the Inspiron 7567. For example, the tapered front and back edges remain while the tacky red grilles are now gone for more neutral gray-colored grilles. Visually, the changes make the notebook stand out in the ever-growing crowd of budget gaming notebooks even if users may not like the Ruffles-inspired grilles. The dark gray magnesium alloy surfaces are smooth and uniform from top to bottom and will attract fingerprints just as well as on the Inspiron 7567. The front corners of the notebook are unfortunately still quite sharp to the touch compared to the rounded corners of most other notebooks.

There have been no processor changes from the Inspiron 7567. The same quad-core i5-7300HQ and quad-core i7-7700HQ options remain just like on essentially every other gaming notebook of this year in the mainstream to high-end categories. We don't expect this to change anytime soon at least until both Ryzen Mobile and 45 W Coffee Lake CPUs become readily available.

The slower i5-7300HQ CPU does not appear to make much of a difference in frame rates for most titles when compared to the Omen 15 with the same GTX 1060 Max-Q GPU but faster quad-core i7-7700HQ. Nearly all tested titles are playable at 1080p and at maximum settings at a locked 30 FPS whereas a desktop GTX 1060 can handle most games at near-maximum settings at a locked 60 FPS. It's still unfortunate that Dell offers no G-Sync options as most titles hover between the 30 and 60 FPS range where the variable refresh rate technology is at its best.

Running on battery power will limit both CPU and GPU potential. A 3DMark 11 run on batteries (High Performance, dGPU enabled) returns Physics and Graphics scores of 3798 and 4826 points, respectively, compared to 6015 and 13075 points when on mains. We noticed odd frame pacing behavior when gaming on batteries that we hope Dell will address in a future update.

The system ships with a 24 percent smaller battery capacity than on the outgoing Inspiron 7567 and even the older Inspiron 7559. Battery life has suffered as a result from over 10 hours on the Inspiron 7567 to "just" 7 hours on the new Inspiron 7577 when subjected to similar WLAN conditions.

When looking more closely at the battery life changes, we can begin to predict why Dell decided to reduce the cell count from 6 to 4. The 74 Wh battery in the Inspiron 7567 was very large for its price category and runtimes were already hours longer than its closest competitors. By moving to a smaller battery for the 7577 series, Dell can still boast longer runtimes than the competition while likely cutting costs simultaneously.

Charging from near empty to full capacity will take about 2 hours.

The Inspiron 7577 is the best gaming notebook for users on a tight budget. It's surprisingly quiet and long-lasting with strong graphics performance that go beyond its asking price. The display and keyboard are the two aspects that feel "budget-grade" in this otherwise exceptional mainstream offering.
